Clean Air Task Force Comments on the Bureau of Land Management’s Proposed Rule on Wasteful Flaring and Venting of Gas
Clean Air Task Force joined a number of conservation and community groups urging the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to take much stronger action to curb wasteful venting and flaring of publicly and Tribally owned gas. Gas flaring results in unnecessary emissions of methane, CO2, and other pollutants such as particulate matter that directly harm human health. Reducing venting and flaring from the gas sector will significantly cut methane emissions, is necessary to meet BLM’s legal obligations under the Mineral Leasing Act, and will have added benefits to frontline communities and the climate.
