Clean Hydrogen in Louisiana

Louisiana is one of the nation’s largest hydrogen producing states, primarily for hydrogen use in oil refineries, chemical plants, and fertilizer production. Clusters of industrial facilities in Louisiana could become larger users of clean hydrogen as infrastructure, production facilities, and end uses expand. Louisiana also has unique geology suitable for storage of carbon dioxide, which is necessary for fossil-based hydrogen production with carbon capture and storage. Louisiana has drawn interest in clean hydrogen because of these factors.
