Share Event
Event Details:
October 25-27, 2024
Mauna Lani, Island of Hawai’i
About the event
Join us before the Geothermal Rising Conference to attend an expert summit on key topics related to superhot rock energy development: drilling, well completion, permeability creation, surface equipment, and siting. Sessions include author presentations of CATF-commissioned reports, panels from leading experts in the field, and strategy sessions with other leading experts to build a roadmap for international technology development in this space.
The workshop will explore the findings and technical gaps uncovered in five flagship reports focused on the capabilities necessary to create power and heat from low-permeability formations in excess of 400°C. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to work with other leading experts to shape the trajectory of superhot rock energy pilots and priorities and propose new opportunities to collaborate with other superhot rock experts globally.
- Strengthen global collaboration and share learnings through expert networks
- Develop a superhot rock energy roadmap that leads to pilot demonstrations
- Exchange developments across geographical regions and key technical areas
- Refine reports by identifying and addressing high-priority gaps and related challenges in superhot rock energy
- Strategize around next steps for accelerating the technology to meet the energy needs of the coming decades

Support the Summit
Superhot rock energy is a visionary energy source deserving of investment, and yet almost entirely unrecognized in the decarbonization debate. With the right funding and policy support, it could revolutionize the global energy system by providing the world with cost-competitive, carbon-free, always available renewable energy. To date, CATF is the only nonprofit in the world working to bring this vision to reality.
Thank you to our sponsors: Halliburton, ALTISS, Eavor, Quaise, Jacobs, and Orkuveita Reykjavíkur / Reykjavík Energy.
Consistent with our mission, CATF does not seek or accept programmatic funding from government sources or from any private corporations that sell energy or climate- or environmentally-related products or services as part of their core business. As such, sponsor revenue received for this event will cover commodity costs only and does not influence the event’s content.
